Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Third Week of January 2026

Four companies published results from drilling campaigns in Mexico during the week.

Luca Mining released results from underground and surface drilling at its Campo Morado mine in Guerrero. Surface drilling across the central and eastern portions of the Reforma Deposit confirms grade continuity and test expansion potential. A total of 8,440 m of underground drilling have been completed to date in 36 holes. ”Drilling continues at Reforma and El Rey, with additional underground drilling planned to target the Largo, Naranjo and Fish deposits, which form part of the 2026–2028 mine plans”. A second surface drill rig was added to test other targets within the camp. Volcanogenic massive sulfide deposit (VMS) like Campo Morado are commonly polymetallic, as attested by the 25.1 m intercept grading 3.19 gpt Au, 150 gpt Ag, 0.61% Cu, 1.0% Pb, 3.3% Zn in the Reforma orebody.

Vizsla Silver results come from eleven geotechnical drill holes targeting the Copala resource area at its Panuco project in Sinaloa. According to the mineral resource estimate report, ”Copala currently hosts Measured Resources of 41.4 Moz AgEq at 684 g/t AgEq, Indicated Resources of 82.8 Moz AgEq at 600 g/t AgEq and Inferred Resources of 35.5 Moz AgEq at 476 g/t AgEq” and  “Temperature and salinity ranges, gangue mineralogy (adularia-quartz) and hydrothermal alteration in Panuco veins are consistent with typical low- to intermediate-sulfidation epithermal types of deposits. Contrasting concentrations of base metals (moderate to very low) and silver/gold ratios (<100 – >150) between Napoleon and Copala, point to distinct fluid compositions; intermediate sulfidation for Napoleon and low sulfidation for Copala”.

Questcorp Mining and partner Riverside Resources reported sediment hosted mineralization that they characterize as Carlin-like at the Luis Hill target at La Union project, in Sonora. One hole intersected gold in jasperoid-like dolomite and silica flooded black shale, returning 42.70 m of 0.29 gpt Au. Previously the main target style was carbonate replacement deposits, or CRD.

Finally, Kingsmen Resources reported assay from three drill holes on the DBD zone (previously undrilled) at its Las Coloradas project in the Parral district of Chihuahua. Mineralization at Las Coloradas is of intermediate sulfidation epithermal style.
