Many companies released interesting silver results from drilling programs on Mexican properties during the quarter. By a wide margin this period the title goes to Pan American Silver’s La Colorada skarn in Zacatecas, with many intercepts running into the hundreds of meters of longitude with tens of grams of silver, and a few high grade intercepts. La Colorada Skarn has several large ore bodies of poly-metallic skarn mineralization, that were found some years ago by exploration/extension drilling on the La Colorada mine intermediate sulfidation vein system.
The bulk of this list is composed by properties with strongly structurally controlled intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization. Projects with intercepts over 5,000 gpt*m silver include Kootenay’s Columba in Chihuahua, Fortuna’s San Jose mine in Oaxaca, Defiance’s San Acacio (part of Zacatecas Silver project) in Zacatecas and Pan American’s La Colorada (the vein system) in Zacatecas.
Other mineralization systems with interesting silver intercepts include skarns (La Parrilla), gold skarns (Torex’s complex in Guerrero), orogenic gold systems (Los Pavitos), low sulfidation epithermal (Tropico) and porphyry copper related (as the Dios Padre breccia intercepts).
