Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, First Week of October 2026

Three companies released results from drilling projects in Mexico during the week, notably, the three projects are in Sonora.

Sonoro Gold announced assay results from 26 reverse circulation drill holes at its Cerro Caliche property in Sonora, having completed 72 holes over 14,086 m as part of an ongoing 50,000-m campaign. The results are from the recently acquired Diana concessions and the newly-identified La Colorada zone. The higher-grade results from the Diana zone are likely to improve the overall economics of the project, whereas at La Colorada zone “Drilling outlined a new northwest-trending mineralized zone characterized by rhyolitic dikes, structurally controlled breccias, multiple mineralized structures and numerous historical mine workings.”

Tocvan Ventures reported assays results from one additional hole at its Gran Pilar project in Sonora. The hole was collared 130 m from a previous successful hole on the El Mezquite trend, which now has been traced for 1,400 m. “Mineralization remains associated with silicified hydrothermal breccia, pyrite, tourmaline, and increasing Zn-Pb-As pathfinders.” From information on previous news releases, the project presents characteristics of an intermediate sulfidation epithermal system, probably distal to a porphyry copper system.

Masivo Silver reported analytical results from the first drill hole completed at its Cerro Colorado project in Sonora. The company reported the “broad width of mineralization, strong alteration, persistent polymetallic signature and strengthening grades near the bottom of the hole”, same that was terminated due to technical difficulties. Cerro Colorado displays characteristics of  intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization over imposed on a porphyry copper system.
