Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Fourth Week of March 2023

Three companies reported drilling intercepts from properties in Mexico. At Media Luna, in Guerrero, Torex Gold released very good results from infill drilling at EPO, a deposit located on the northern part of the project. Most of the program was directed towards upgrading inferred resources to the indicated category, reducing the spacing between holes to 30 m by 30 m. “Mineralization at Media Luna is hosted in skarn that developed at the contact of the intrusive granodiorite and overlying sedimentary rocks. The skarn is characterized by a mineral assemblage of pyroxene, garnet, and magnetite. Metal deposition and sulfidation occurred during retrograde alteration and is associated with a mineral assemblage comprising amphibole, phlogopite, chlorite, and calcite ± quartz ± epidote as well as variable amounts of magnetite and sulfides, primarily pyrrhotite”.

At Panuco, in Sinaloa, Vizsla Silver reported results from seven holes on the La Luis vein, outlining a high-grade zone 350 long by 325 m down dip, open in all directions. Metal ratios suggest this is a shallow ore zone, and potential exists for increased grades and widths along strike and down plunge to the south. “The district contains intermediate to low sulfidation epithermal silver and gold deposits related to siliceous volcanism and crustal extension in the Oligocene and Miocene”.

Discovery Silver announced results from drilling part of the ongoing feasibility study at the Cordero project in Chihuahua. “Drilling has been focused on expanding reserves through the conversion of waste to ore within the reserves pit and through the expansion at depth of the reserves pit”. Cordero shows high grade intermediate sulfidation epithermal veins, Ag-Pb-Zn mineralization related to the intrusion of felsic laccoliths, dikes and sills into a calcareous sedimentary sequence, with skarn and carbonate replacement mineralization dominating parts of the deposit. A very broad classification would put Cordero as polymetallic intrusive related mineralization.
