Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Fourth Week of May 2025

Three companies presented results during the week from drill programs in Mexico. Torex Gold informed on the 48,000 m extension and definition drilling program at its El Limón Guajes Mine Complex in Guerrero, providing results from El Limon Sur and El Limon West Trends. The ELG Mine Complex “is hosted in the Mesozoic carbonate-rich Morelos Platform which has been intruded by Paleocene granodiorite stocks, sills, and dikes, and the uplifting of the block close to surface by maar-diatreme complexes …Gold mineralization at ELG occurs in spatial association with a skarn body that was developed along a two-kilometre-long corridor following the northeast contact of the ELG granodiorite stock. The skarn zone that occurs at the marble stratigraphic level of the Morelos Formation is in contact with hornfels developed in the Mezcala Formation…. Early-stage deposition corresponds to skarn alteration and mineralization at ELG and is fairly typical of calcic gold-skarn systems. Zones of coarse, massive, garnet-dominant skarn appear within and along the stock margin, with fine-grained pyroxene-dominant skarn more common at greater distances from the contact with the stock. Significant gold mineralization at ELG is spatially associated with the skarn, preferentially occurring in pyroxene-rich exoskarn but also hosted in garnet-rich endoskarn that has been affected by retrograde alteration, which suggests that the most important gold event is strongly related to bismuth, late stage, and of epithermal origin”.

Mithril Silver and Gold provided results from drilling at Target 2 (Las Brujas) on its Copalquin project in Durango, testing 200 m of strike-length of the structure. “shallow drilling at the Target 2 prospect (Las Brujas and El Peru) has intersected a mineralized vein system featuring localized breccia zones, banded to colloform quartz, and trace black sulfides… High-grade mineralization… is associated with greenish, colloform quartz banding which is present in other Au-Ag epithermal deposits of the Sierra Madre”. Copalquin displays low sulfidation epithermal mineralization. Minaurum Gold announced that through drilling and modelling has identified four stacked vein structures roughly parallel to one another at the Promontorio vein Zone, at its Alamos Silver project in Sonora. “In addition, while the veins at Alamos pinch and swell along strike, our drilling is returning higher grades in the vein pinches and wider widths in the swells than anticipated”. Mineralization is of epithermal intermediate sulfidation character
