Five companies released results of drilling programs on properties in Mexico during the week previous to the PDAC convention in Toronto. Torex Gold informed on the ongoing drilling program at Media Luna West and initial drill testing at Media Luna East. A mineralized footprint of 600 m x 400 m has been defined at Media Luna West, with the aim to build an inferred resource by the end of 2025. More than 20,000 m of drilling are planned at both targets in 2025. The Media Luna Cluster is hosted “within the Mesozoic carbonate-rich Morelos Platform, overlayed by Cuautla and Mezcala formations, and have been intruded by Paleocene stocks, sills, and dikes of granodioritic to tonalitic composition”. Tocvan Ventures reported the first reverse circulation drilling results from its Gran Pilar project in Sonora. “Two exploration holes were completed testing northwest trending mineralization. Two scout holes were completed in a northwest direction to test for a further continuation of mineralization”. The intercepted mineralization coincides with a sulfide bearing granitoid and its contact with altered volcanic rocks of andesitic composition.
Prime Mining posted generative drill results from 2024 drilling at the Fresnillo and Mariposa targets. The 14 core holes intersected the Fresnillo, Noche Buena and Mariposa structures. Drilling in 2025 is to focus on extending the high-grade Z-T Area, to expand known mineralization at Guadalupe East, to increase the Central Area resource and perform generative target drilling. Over 1,500 m have been completed since the start of the year and six rigs are currently on standby on the site.
Southern Silver Exploration released results from its Cerro Las Minitas project in Durango. Six holes totaling 2,395 m tested gaps within the current block model and lateral extensions to mineralization, intersecting mineralized skarn at depth from the main mineralized shoot of the South Skarn deposit. Several gold rich hanging wall intercepts correlate to zones of more typical silver rich polymetallic mineralization adjacent to the central monzonite intrusion. Minaurum Gold announced results from the drilling program testing the Promontorio zone at its Alamos Silver project in Sonora. Promontorio, along with the Europa vein zone are priority targets for the upcoming maiden resource estimate.
