Mexico’s Best Base Metals Intercepts on Q4 2023

Several companies released drilling results that included copper, lead and zinc assays for projects in Mexico. The copper results are not really impressive, but none of these come from projects heavily dependent on the red metal concentrations. For lead and zinc the story is different, with strong results from Pan American’s Silver La Colorada Skarn at least 10 times bigger than those from the closer competitor. These results include core length intervals hundreds of meters long with grades of up to 3 to 4 percent lead or zinc. The top results for lead zinc and copper come all from skarn mineralization systems, like La Colorada Skarn, in Zacatecas, La Parrilla in Durango and and several deposits at Torex Gold’s Morelos Complex in Guerrero.

With the exception of two projects in Sonora, Los Pavitos and Dios Padre, described as an orogenic gold system and a porphyry copper related breccia respectively, the rest of projects comprise structurally controlled intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization.
