Low Sulphidation Epithermal Deposits at the Altiplano

The Mexican Altiplano is particularly well endowed with a diversity of ore deposit mineralization types, of which the epithermal deposits of low sulphidation affinity are well represented. These epithermal ore deposits are widely spread on this region and have a spatial and genetic relationship to the Tertiary volcanic arc and associated intrusives.

Resources (all inclusive) for 4.99 M Oz gold and 447.7 M Oz Ag have been delineated to date on twenty one low sulphidation epithermal deposits characterized by veins, breccias and disseminations. La Preciosa of Coeur Mining has the biggest resource with almost 133 M Oz Ag and over 231K Oz Au at grades of 84 g/t Ag and 0.15 g/t Au. Other significant deposits are the First Majestic´s La Luz with almost 80 M Oz Ag at a grade of 207 g/t Ag, and El Coronel of Frisco with over 1.27 M Oz Au and almost 4.2 M oz Ag at grades of 0.63 g/t Au and 2.06 g/t Ag. Many more low sulphidation prospects and projects are known to ocurr at the Altiplano and are being explored by different mining companies. No doubt that sooner or later more resources of gold and silver from this mineralization style will be added to the mineral inventory.

The table below shows tonnage, grades, as well as gold and silver resources for each of these deposits.
