The Mining and Exploration News in Mexico: Highlights on the Fourth Week of January, 2019

During the 4th week of the year (January 21st to January 27th, 2019), at least 20 press releases were announced by companies working in Mexico. ON MEXICO ISSUES, CAMIMEX expressed it is in contact with diverse actors of the public administration to consolidate the international competitivity of the mining industry. ON EXPLORATION, In Chihuahua, Radius Gold staked the 9,600 ha. Rambler project, covering a 9 km trend of epithermal mineralization. In Sinaloa, Kootenay Silver released interesting surface sample results from its Copalito project. In Durango, Orex is to perform a VTEM airborne survey on the San Luis Del Cordero property. In Hidalgo, Prospero Silver initiated drilling at the Pachuca SE project, with funding by Fortuna Silver. ON MINING, Pan American, Argonaut, Gold Resource, Fresnillo, Sierra Metals and Americas Silver presented Q4 and full year 2018 production results (by the way, anyone has heard from Frisco on this regard?). Endeavour presented its 2019 production guidance. ON FINANCING, Premier Gold signed a credit agreement with Investec Bank as administrative agent for the lenders for a US$50 M credit facility. ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT, Endeavour updated its reserve and resource base, for a consolidated grand total of 132 M Oz Ag, 1.042 M Oz Au. Premier Gold presented high-grade intercepts from drilling at Mercedes, Sonora, where over 40,000 m of drilling were completed in 2018. Leagold is to produce 200-220 K Oz Au in 2019 at Los Filos, Guerrero. Azure Minerals presented a favorable scoping study for its Oposura project in Sonora. Impact Silver is defining extensions on veins at its Zacualpan property in Estado de Mexico. Excellon released high-grade results from surface exploration at its Platosa mine in Durango. Capstone filed on Sedar a technical report for Cozamin, Zacatecas. ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES, Prospero Silver announced the signature of the option agreement with Fortuna Silver on the Pachuca SE project.

ON MEXICO ISSUES

  • CAMIMEX (Cámara Minera de México), in a response to El Financiero, expressed that any modification to the mining regulations has to take into account the wellbeing of the communities and its environment. The organization, of which leading companies like Peñoles, Grupo México and Minera Frisco are members, considers mining is one of the most supervised sectors in the country, with a modern and robust regulatory frame, following international standards, although areas of opportunity can always be identified.  “We have approached diverse authorities on the public administration and found openness to solve any pending issues and consolidate the international competitivity that benefits the country development”.

ON EXPLORATION

  • Orex Minerals Inc. contracted Geotech Ltd. To perform a VTEM (Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic) airborne survey over its San Luis del Cordero project in Durango. Old mine workings and mineralized showings wrap around a Tertiary quartz-feldspar-porphyry intrusive. The helicopter-borne survey, with accompanying horizontal gradiometer and radiometric surveys, is to identify discrete conductive anomalies, as well as mapping lateral and vertical variations in resistivity. The airborne survey will be conducted over a grid at 100 m line-spacing for approximately 275 line-km, with measurements every 2-3 m along survey lines.
  • Prospero Silver Corp. has started phase 2 drilling at its Pachuca Se project in Hidalgo. Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. has an option to acquire up to a 70% interest in the 6,699 hectares project (24 km SE from Pachuca) by spending a total of US$8 M and completing a preliminary economic assessment (PEA), spending more than US$1 M in the first year. A six-hole, 4,200 m program started to test a number of potential drill targets. In a Fortuna funded program in early 2018, 1,800 m of drilling tested three distinct targets, intercepting what is interpreted to be the upper parts of a mineralized epithermal system.
  • Radius Gold Inc. staked a 9,600 ha property called the Rambler project, in Chihuahua, some 20 km NW from Radius’s Amalia project. Regional prospecting discovered epithermal mineralization in veins, vein breccias and disseminated zones over a 9 km trend, where samples with up to 16.5 gpt Au, 2,030 gpt Ag, 3.8% Cu, 13.9% Zn, 3.4% Pb were collected. Saucito is the main target area, where a 500 x 70 m stockwork returned an average of 177 gpt Ag on 31 samples. Other target areas with interesting rock chip sample results include La Machomera (up to 7.3 gpt Au, 469 gpt Ag), La India (up to 10.3 gpt Au, 16 gpt Ag), El Gringo (4.8 gpt Au, 3.8% Cu).
  • Kootenay Silver Inc. released results from surface sampling and mapping at the Copalito Ag-Au project in Sinaloa, same that covers an epithermal system with numerous veins 0.5-15 m in width and up to 2 km in strike length. Sampling Highlights include 7.2 Gpt Au, 3,770 gpt Ag at the 5 Señores and Agua veins respectively; 8.2 gpt Au, 583 gpt Ag across 1.1 m on the 5 Señores vein; 401 gpt Ag across 5.3 m on 5 Señores vein; 532 gpt Ag over 3.0 m and 306 gpt Ag over 4.9 m across the Agua vein; 17.4% Zn, 9.9% Pb, 0.52 gpt Au, 76 gpt Ag on a grab sample at Pillar vein and 5.1%, 1.6% and 1.5 Cu along the Cobriza vein. Of 117 rock samples collected, 29 returned silver grades over 90 gpt, including 11 over 300 gpt and 6 over 500 gpt.

ON MINING

  • Pan American Silver Corp. announced preliminary operating results for the fourth quarter and full year 2018, including information from its operations in Mexico. At La Colorada in Zacatecas, 7.6 M Oz Ag, 4,400 Oz Au were produced during the year, at cash cost $2.02 per Ag Oz, whereas at Dolores in Chihuahua, 4.1 M Oz Ag and 136,600 Oz Au were produced at cash cost ($1.87) per Ag Oz. Pan American is planning to sustain 2,000 tonnes per day  (tpd) throughput at La Colorada during 2019, and continue to explore and define the potential of the “significant skarn deposit discovered in 2018”.  At Dolores the company plans to ramp-up underground production rates to 1,500 tpd and sustain the 20 K tpd throughput rate to the heap leach from the pit.
  • Argonaut Gold Inc. informed on Q4 production and yearly results for 2018, including numbers from its Mexican operations. At El Castillo Complex, in Durango, 37,977 GEOs (Gold equivalent ounces) were produced during the quarter, 18,984 from El Castillo mine and 18,993 from the San Agustin mine. At La Colorada, in Sonora, 13,681 Oz Au were produced during the same period. For the year, El Castillo Complex produced 117,126 GEOs and La Colorada 47,991 GEOs. Argonaut plans to invest $50-$60 M in capital expenditures during 2019, with $15 M allocated to the expansion of crushing and leaching facilities at San Agustin to increase the rate of production from 20K tpd to 30 K tpd.
  • Gold Resource Corp. reported 2018 year-end and fourth quarter production results from their El Aguila mining operations in Oaxaca. During the year Gold Resource produced 26,838 Oz Au, 1.67 M Oz Ag, 1,652 tonnes Cu, 7,280 tonnes Pb and 19,808 tonnes Zn. During the fourth quarter 7,974 Oz Au and 330.6 K Oz Ag were produced.
  • Fresnillo PLC. released 4Q and full year 2018 results, with a consolidated production of 61.8 M Oz Ag and 923 K Oz Au for the year and 15.5 M Oz Ag, 232 K Oz Au for the quarter. Lead (53,181 tonnes) and Zinc (88,520 tonnes) production amounted to 19.9 M Oz AgEq. “The cumulative drilling for the year at our operating mines and exploration projects was 579,000 and 346,000 metres respectively. Resources and reserves (in the case of the operating mines) are presently in audit by SRK and the results of which will be disclosed in the first quarter of 2019 with our Preliminary results. Resources were increased at the Guanajuato and San Juan projects, while mapping identified new targets at the Fresnillo and Herradura districts, and a geophysical survey detected areas for follow up in the San Julián district. Further to this, and for the first time in the Company’s history, drilling began in Chile. Exploration teams are working out of the Hermosillo, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, Toluca, Lima-Peru and Santiago de Chile offices in selected areas of favorable silver-gold belts in Mexico, Peru, Chile and Argentina”.   • Endeavour Silver Corp. announced its consolidated silver and gold production guidance for 2019, to be 4.4-5.2 M Oz Ag, 46.2-52.2 K Oz Au, or 8.1-9.4 M Oz AgEq. “Cash costs, net of gold by-product credits, are expected to be $8.50-$9.50 per oz of silver produced in 2019. Consolidated cash costs on a co-product basis are anticipated to be $11.50-$12.50 per oz silver and $900-$1,000 per oz gold”. The final dumps and tailings permit at Terronera is needed to make a development decision. The company plans to drill 24,500 m during 2019 in Guanaceví, Bolañitos, El Cubo, El Compas, Terronera, Parral and Guadalupe y Calvo.
  • Sierra Metals Inc. Disclosed Q4 and full year 2018 results, including figures from its Mexican operations. The Bolivar mine in Chihuahua processed (at 2,948 tonnes per day, or tpd) in the year 1 M tonnes of ore @ 0.95% Cu, 18 gpt Ag, 0.17 gpt Au, with recoveries of 79.9% Cu, 77.1% Ag, 68.5% Au, to produce 17.23 M Lb Cu, 452 K Oz Ag, 3,968 Oz Au. For the quarter, 272.6 K tonnes were processed (3,116 tpd) @ 0.94% Cu, 15 gpt Ag, 0.15 gpt Au, to produce 4.23 M Lb Cu, 128 K Oz Ag, 1,163 Oz Au. At Cusi, also in Chihuahua, 186.9 K tonnes were processed (534 tpd) during the year at a grade of 140 gpt Ag, 0.16 gpt Au, 0.36% Pb, 0.40% Zn, recovering 83.1% Ag, 39.1% Au, 79.9% Pb, 4.3% Zn, to produce 700 K Oz Ag, 372 Oz Au, 1.19 M Lb Pb, 937 K Lb Zn. During the last quarter Cusi processed 58.3 K tonnes (666 tpd) @ 111 gpt Ag, 0.16 gpt Au, 0.41% Pb, 0.49% Zn, to produce 171 K Oz Ag, 124 Oz Au, 421 K Lb Pb, no Zn.
  • Americas Silver Corp. announced production and operating results for 2018, including figures from its Mexican operations. At Cosalá, in Sinaloa, 544.5 K tonnes were milled @ 47 gpt Ag, to produce 448.1 K Oz Ag, 34.22 M Lb Pb, 12.86 M Lb Zn, or 4.16 M Oz AgEq at cash cost ($37.95) and AISC ($19.69).

ON FINANCING

  • Premier Gold Mines Ltd. Announced the signing of a definitive credit agreement with Investec Bank PLC, as administrative agent for the lenders of a US$50 M secured term credit facility. Premier also announced financing arrangements with OMF Fund II SO Ltd. and Orion Mine Finance Fund II LP for aggregate gross proceeds of US$18.2 M. (Mercedes, Sonora).

ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Endeavour Silver Corp. updated its reserve and resource base for its mines and projects for 2018. Consolidated reserves and resources, including inferred resources for its seven units comprise 132 M Oz Ag and 1.042 M Oz Au, as displayed on the following table:
  • Premier Gold Mines Ltd. provided an update on its exploration programs, including information from its Mexican operations. At Mercedes in Sonora, positive exploration results include 18.3 m @ 38.3 gpt Au, 26 gpt Ag on the Aida vein, and 22.0 m @ 36.6 gpt Au, 171 gpt Ag at Rey de Oro. During the past year 280 brownfield and greenfield holes were completed representing 40,720 m of drilling.
  • Leagold Mining Corp. announced its intention to produce 200 K to 220 K Oz Au during 2019, at an AISC of $925 to $925-975 at Los Filos, in Guerrero. The proven and probable reserves at the property stand at 111.33 M tonnes @ 1.22 gpt Au, containing 4.363 M Oz Au, and 114 K Oz Au on the leach pad inventory.
  • Azure Minerals Ltd. Presented its quarterly report for the period ended on December 2018. The company highlighted the Scoping Study for the Oposura project in Sonora, with an EBITDA of A$237 M, pre-tax NPV of A$112 M, pre-tax IRR of 76%, average life of mine cash cost US$0.42 per Zn Lb and a pre-production CAPEX of A$69.9 M. At the Alacrán project in Sonora, Teck completed its Phase 2 drilling program comprising 10.537 m in 21 holes, with focus on testing porphyry copper potential at Cerro Alacrán, with assays pending. At Oso Negro, also in Sonora, sampling returned more high-grade mineralization, with the best sample returning 15.5 gpt Au, 1,935 gpt Ag, 5.9% Zn, 4.6% Pb. At Sara Alicia, also in Sonora, the company has been showing the property to potential partners or buyers.
  •  Impact Silver Corp. hired a consultant to define extensions to the vein systems on its Zacaualpan property in Estado de Mexico. Work to date has defined on strike extensions to the San Ramon silver vein system through geological work and soil sampling, and better characterizing the potential for bulk mineable ore in the Santa Teresa area.
  • Excellon Resources Inc. released high-grade results from ongoing surface exploration at its Platosa mine in Durango. Highlighted intervals comprise 0.9 m @ 283 gpt Ag, 9.8% Pb, 0.3% Zn; 5.6 m @ 383 gpt Ag, 8.0% Pb, 0.2% Zn; 2.5 m @ 406 gpt Ag, 3.7% Pb, 0.2% Zn; 0.6 m @ 2,060 gpt Ag, 7.8% Pb, 9.1% Zn; 5.0 m @ 0.28 gpt Au, 968 gpt Ag, 9.4% Pb, 20.2% Zn; 4.8 m @ 1,127 gpt Ag, 8.4% Pb, 10.5% Zn.
  • Capstone Mining Corp. filed on SEDAR a NI-43-101 compliant report titled “NI 43-101 Technical Report on the Cozamin Mine, Zacatecas, Mexico”.

ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES

  • Prospero Silver Corp. announced the signature of the previously disclosed option agreement with Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. on the Pachuca SE project. “On December 10, 2018 Prospero announced that Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (“Fortuna”) exercised its right to be granted an option to acquire up to a 70-per-cent interest in the Pachuca Southeast project located close to the historic mining city of Pachuca in Hidalgo state, Mexico, by spending a total of $8-million (U.S.) in qualifying expenditures and completing a preliminary economic assessment, with a minimum spend of $1-million in the first year” (Pachuca SE, Hidalgo).

During the 50th week ofthe year (December 10th to December 16th, 2018), at least 12 press releases were announced by companies working in Mexico. Chesapeake Gold and Ridgestone released news on exploration. SSR Mining-SilverCrest and Goldplay Exploration announced news on financing. Azure Minerals, Coeur Mining,Endeavour Silver, SilverCrest Metals and Capstone presented news on resource definition drilling. Camrova Resources and Prospero Silver presented news on deals and corporate issues. ON MEXICO ISSUES, Five miners died on three different accidents in mines of Chihuahua and Sonora. The Mining Fund is to be controlled by the “Secretaría deEconomía”, instead of the SEDATU. ONEXPLORATION, In Sonora, Ridgestone Mining released drilling results from its Rebeico project. In Sinaloa, Chesapeake Gold released exploration results from its Yareli project. In Veracruz, Chesapeake Gold released interesting results from its Tatatila Au-Cu project in Veracruz. Prospero Silver announced Fortuna Silver’s exercise on the option to to continue exploring the Pachuca SE project in Hidalgo.

ON MEXICO ISSUES

  • On a grim week for the mining industry in Mexico, five miners died in three different accidents. In Chihuahua one miner died on the Granadeña mine, and two in Coeur’s Guadalupe mine at Palmarejo. In Sonora, two Alamos Gold miners died after a pit wall collapsed at the Mulatos mine. On other matters, the Mining Fund (Fondo Minero) created in 2013 to aid development of communities near to mineral production centers, is to be controlled from 2019 by the Economy Secretariat (Secretaría de Economía). Up to this year the fund was managed by the Urban, Agrarian and Land Development Secretariat (Secretaría de Desarrollo Agrario, Territorial y Urbano). Another change is that 80% of the resources are to be invested in “zones of mining production”, while the Economy Secretariat keeps 10% and the Federal Government the remaining 10%.

ON EXPLORATION

  • Chesapeake Gold Corp. updated on exploration efforts at its Yarely (includes, Los Mimbres, Sundae and Goyo prospects) and Tatatila projects in Sinaloa and Veracruz respectively. At Los Mimbres, channel sampling of veins and stockworks returned 7 m @ 1.15 g/t Au, 88 g/t Ag; 7 m @ 0.9 g/t Au, 87 g/t Ag; 5 m @ 0.11 g/t Au, 196 g/t Ag; 31 m @ 0.3 g/t Au, 14 g/t Ag; 10 m @ 0.24 g/t Au, 5 g/t Ag. At Sundae, sampling of veins displaying classic high level epithermal textures returned up to 0.1 g/t Au, 8 g/t Ag on surface exposures. At Goyo, assays from two rock chip channel sections taken 100 m apart returned: 30 m of 1.63 g/t Au, 38 g/t Ag; 15 m of 0.60 g/t Au, 9 g/t Ag. Another structure returned 4 m @ 3.74 g/t Au, 90 g/t Ag; 5 m @ 1.3 g/t Au, 15 g/t Ag; 25 m @ 0.54 g/t Au, 35 g/t Ag. At Tatatila the target is Au-Cu skarns like those at Las Minas, Veracruz, which it surrounds. Rock chip sampling results in six different zones of the 15,000 ha land package include: 12 m @ 3.0 g/t Au, 0.24% Cu; 6 m @ 5.1 g/t Au, 0.46% Cu; 18 m @ 3.8 g/t Au, 0.50% Cu; 11 m @ 0.24 g/t Au, 37 g/t Ag, 12.9% Zn; 12 m @ 1.0 g/t Au, 0.35% Cu, 0.22% Zn; 6 m @ 0.30 g/t Au, 0.12% Cu, 2.05% Zn; 12 m @ 0.50 g/t Au, 0.40% Cu, 0.70% Zn; 9 m @ 2.3 g/t Au, 0.30% Cu; 11 m @ 1.4 g/t Au, 0.47% Cu, 9 m @ 0.90 g/t Au, 2.0% Cu, 67 m @ 1.6 g/t Au, 0.60% Cu; 21 m @ 2.2 g/t Au, 0.27% Cu; 15 m @ 2.3 g/t Au, 0.30% Cu; 9 m @ 1.2 g/t Au, 0.25% Cu; 11 m @ 1.4 g/t Au ,0.36% Cu; 8 m @ 1.0 g/t Au, 1.25% Cu.
  • Ridgestone Mining Inc. received results for four holes from the twelve hole drill program at its Rebeico project in Sonora. The drilling was designed to test beneath underground workings along a 500 m portion of the 1.2 km long Alaska vein. Highlighted intervals comprise 0.62 m @ 1.02 g/t Au, 0.96% Cu; 0.80 m @ 2.95 g/t Au, 1.41% Cu in the first hole.  Contiguous 1.0 m @ 7.8 g/t Au, 1.87% Cu; 9.51 g/t Au, 3.69% Cu in the second hole and 1.40 m @ 3.25 g/t Au; 1.50 m @ 1.39 g/t Au in the fourth hole. Hole four was collared 400 m south from the first two holes, thus establishing the continuity of mineralization.

  • SSR Mining Inc. completed the transaction with SilverCrest Metals Inc. to purchase, by way of private placement, shares for a total consideration of C$30.66 M (Las Chispas, Sonora).
  • Goldplay Exploration Ltd. closed the final tranche of its non-brokered private placement for gross proceeds of $273.7 K. Total gross proceeds raised under all tranches of this offering was $1.5 M (San Marcial, Sinaloa).

ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Azure Minerals Ltd. announced that further infill and extension drilling has returned high-grade mineralization over substantial widths at its Oposura project in Sonora. Highlighted core length intervals comprise 5.25 m @ 24.4% Zn+Pb, including 3.05 m @ 39.3% Zn+Pb.; 8.65 m @ 11.4% Zn+Pb, including 4.55 m @ 19.6% Zn+Pb; 6.0 m @ 11.7% Zn+Pb, including 2.95 m @ 21.9% Zn+Pb; 3.60 m @ 15.5% Zn+Pb, including 2.45 m @ 20.5% Zn+Pb.
  • Coeur Mining Inc. provided an update on exploration, including activities at its Palmarejo mine in Chihuahua. Highlighted results comprise 7.8 m @ 5.7 g/t Au, 833 g/t Ag at La Nación vein; 2.8 m @ 2.3 g/t Au, 337 g/t Ag; 5.2 m @ 2.7 g/t Au, 229 g/t Ag; 6.8 m @ 2.3 g/t Au, 122 g/t Ag at Las Animas zone, where three potentially mineralized areas were discovered, and 4.0 m @ 6.8 g/t Au, 693 g/t Ag at Independencia, which extends mineralization for another 150 m.

  • Endeavour Silver Corp. reported positive results from surface drilling and underground sampling at the Parral project in Chihuahua. Endeavour owns four historic mines: Veta Colorada (historic resources), LaPalmilla (Endeavour’s resources), San Patricio and Cometa (Endeavour’s resources). “Several large veins are traceable for over 8 km. Veta Colorada is up to 40metres (m) thick, and includes a higher-grade footwall vein 1-10 m thick and a lower grade hanging wall breccia with mineralized stock-work up to 30 m thick”. Highlighted results from drilling at San Patricio comprise: 1.9 m @ 0.1 g/t Au, 660 g/t Ag, 1.3% Pb, 0.6% Zn; 4.2 m @ 0.21 g/t Au, 934 g/t Ag, 3.0% Pb, 5.9% Zn. Sampling of historic mine fill (known as “chorros” or “retaques”) at VetaColorada average (18 samples) 106.3 g/t Ag, 0.45% Pb, 0.37% Zn in Level 2, and average (24 samples) 179.2 g/t Ag; 0.51% Pb, 0.44% Zn on Level 4.
  • SilverCrest Metals Inc. announced further high-grade results from in-fill drilling at its Las Chispas property in Sonora.   • Capstone Mining Corp. released positive results of an updated technical report for its Cozamin mine in Zacatecas. Proven and probable reserves increased to 6.19 M tonnes @ 1.60% Cu, 42.9 g/t Ag, 0.71% Cu, 0.14% Pb. Measured and indicated resources amounted to 17.29 M tonnes @ 1.50 % Cu, 45 g/t Ag, 1.25% Zn, 0.28% Pb, and inferred resources to 16.95 M tonnes @ 1.11% Cu, 44 g/t Ag, 1.65% Zn, 0.29% Pb. The total contained metal in reserves and measured and indicated resources adds to 359 Kt Cu, 33.4 M Oz Ag, 259 Kt Zn, 56 Kt Pb, while the inferred resources contain additional 188 Kt Cu, 23.9 M Oz Ag, 279 Kt Zn, 49 Kt Pb.  By completing a new ramp in 2020, Cozamin plans to increase production by approximately 30%.

  • Camrova Resources Inc. presented a press release in which strong complaints were made against Korea Resources Corp. through its controlling interest in Minera y Metalurgica del Boleo S.A.P. (MMB). According to Camrova, Korea Resources has relentlessly ignored Camrova’s petition for board meetings. “Camrova also wishes to announce that it has commenced action and will shortly serve MMB with a judicial notice under applicable Mexican law. This notice is a formal demand for payment of CAD$303,416.60 which is owing by MMB pursuant to a settlement agreement between Camrova and MMB in December 2016” (Boleo, BajaCalifornia Sur).
  • Prospero Silver Corp. announced that Fortuna Silver Mines has exercised its right to be granted an option to acquire up to a 70% interest in the Pachuca SE Project, by spending $8 M in expenditures and completing a preliminary economic assessment, spending a minimum of $1 M in the first year. “The local geology at Pachuca SE is typical of the high-level epithermal environment seen over the Pachuca-Real del Monte mines. Prospero’s land package covers at least 6-7 km of linear, structurally-controlled argillic alteration caps at surface” (Pachuca SE, Hidalgo).

During the 16th week of the year (April 16th to April 22nd, 2018), at least 20 press releases were announced by companies working in Mexico, of which two had information on exploration, five on first quarter production, three in financing, two on resources and development and seven in corporate issues. ON MEXICO ISSUES, No relevant news. ON EXPLORATION, In Jalisco, Evrim released impressive high-grade results from trenching at Cuale. In Veracruz, Mexican Gold released high grade samples from veins at Las Minas. ON MINING, McEwen, Fortuna Silver, Avino Silver, Telson and Excellon presented Q1 2018 production reports. ON FINANCING, Prospero Silver and Aura Silver respectively announced the opening and closing of financing rounds, while Excellon announced the exercise of warrants. ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT, SilverCrest released drill results from the Luigi vein at its Las Chispas property in Sonora. Levon Resources filed a PEA report with a new resource estimate on the Cordero project in Chihuahua.  ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES, Monarca Minerals continues work to solve community issues in Tejamen, Durango. ON EXPLORATION

  • Evrim Resources Corp. announced results from trench sampling at its Cuale project in Jalisco. Trench 4 grades 13.61 g/t Au over 106.2 m, including 50.0 m grading 26.13 g/t Au, including 7.5 m @ 163.3 g/t Au. Trench 2 grades 2.94 g/t Au over 29.4 m, including 17.9 m @ 4.55 g/t Au. Gold results over 10 g/t have been re-assayed. “Metallic screen assays reported acceptable repeatability with excellent repeatability at the highest gold grades”. A second IP line defines a 1,200 m long by 50 to 120 m deep highly resistive ledge associated with strong silicification and minor anomalous gold at the surface.
  • Mexican Gold Corp. released initial sampling results from four veins on its Pueblo Nuevo concession, part of its Las Minas property in Veracruz. The veins are hosted in diorites with argillic alteration, occur as mesothermal quartz veins, 20 to 50 cm in width with sub-vertical dips and lack post-minerals deformation. The Tamiahua I vein assayed 90.82 g/t Au, 37 g/t Ag over 0.40 m, with the footwall and hanging wall returning 0.52 g/t Au, 1 g/t Ag over 1.0 m and 0.72 g/t Au, 1 g/t Ag over 0.80 m respectively. Nine samples at the Tamiahua II returned 2.05 to 22.82 g/t Au and 5 to 37 g/t Ag on an average width of 0.27 m (up to 0.50 m). At the Cajon vein a grab sample returned 32.2 g/t Au, 231 g/t Ag; while a 0.20 m chip sample assayed 3.53 g/t Au, 31 g/t Ag. At the Dos Rios vein, two 0.35 m and 0.18 m samples returned 3.86 g/t Au, 16 g/t Ag; 8.25 g/t Au, 59 g/t Ag respectively, while a 1.0 m  hanging wall channel sample returned 4.92 m g/t Au, 38 g/t Ag.

ON MINING

  • McEwen Mining Inc. reported consolidated production for Q1 2018, which includes figures from its Mexican operations. At El Gallo in Sinaloa, 12,217 AuEq Oz were produced during the period. Mining from the existing open pits will cease in Q2, while heap leach activities will continue until 2020, or as long as it remains economic.
  • Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. reported first quarter 2018 production, including figures from its Mexican operations. At San Jose in Oaxaca, 258 K tonnes were milled, at an average rate of 3,011 tonnes per day (tpd) @ 284 g/t Ag, 0.2 g/t Au, and a recovery of 92.8% Ag, 92.3% Au, to produce 2.18 M Oz Ag, 14,882 Oz Au.
  • Avino Silver & and Gold Mines Ltd. released first quarter 2018 production results from its Avino property in Durango. During the period 120.6 K tonnes were milled @ 56 g/t Ag, 0.58 g/t Au, 0.43% Cu, with recoveries of 81% Ag, 68% Au, 84% Cu, to produce 309.9 K Oz Ag, 2,065 Oz Au, 970 K Lb Cu.
  • Telson Mining Corp. presented first quarter 2018 results from its Campo Morado mine in Guerrero. During the period the mill processed 148.7 K tonnes (approximately 1,650 tpd) @ 3.65% Zn, 0.41% Cu, 0.90% Pb, 1.14 g/t Au, 108 g/t Ag, with recoveries of 70.4% Zn, 23.0% Cu, 37.9% Pb, 17.9% Au, 28.3% Ag in the elaboration of distinct Zn, Cu, Pb concentrates containing 3,824 tonnes Zn, 140.5 tonnes Cu, 508.7 tonnes Pb, 970.9 Oz Au, 146.8 K Oz Ag. Telson continues to ramp-up production to the 2,500 tpd plant capacity.
  • Excellon Resources Inc. presented first quarter 2018 production results from the Platosa mine, Durango. During the period 13,784 tonnes were mined, 18,885 tonnes milled @ 359 g/t Ag, 3.79% Pb, 6.43% Zn, with recoveries of 87.3% Ag, 81.2% Pb, 83.8% Zn, to produce 194.5 K Oz Ag, 1.27 M Lb Pb, 2.25 M Lb Zn.

ON FINANCING

  • Prospero Silver Corp. is to complete a non-brokered private placement intending to raise gross proceeds of up to $1 M (Petate, Hidalgo; Bermudez, Chihuahua).
  • Excellon Resources Inc. announced that 3.33 M warrants were exercised, for proceeds of C$2.17 M (Platosa, Durango).
  • Aura Silver Resources Inc. is undertaking a non brokered private placement to raise gross proceeds of up to $600 K (Aranzazu, Zacatecas).

ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT

  • SilverCrest Metals Inc. released drill results from the Luigi vein on the Las Chispas property in Sonora. The vein was discovered in mid-2017 and referred only as unnamed vein until further drilling delineated a prospective target. Relevant results comprise: 0.8 m (true width, or TW) @ 1.03 g/t Au, 151 g/t Ag; 4.1 m @ 1.71 g/t Au, 232 g/t Ag; 1.8 m @ 0.28 g/t Au, 221 g/t Ag; 1.4 m @ 13.22 g/t Au, 2,067 g/t Ag; 1.4 m @ 0.18 g/t Au, 172 g/t Ag; 1.6 m @ 3.41 g/t Au, 265 g/t Ag; 1.0 m @ 2.75 g/t Au; 231 g/t Ag. The Luigi vein high-grade footprint measures 300 m long by at least 75 m high, averaging 1.7 m in width @ 2.84 g/t Au, 417 g/t Ag. “The Phase III drill program also includes drilling several new and partially-drilled high-grade mineralized veins. An additional 15,000 to 20,000 metres of drilling are planned for Q3 2018”. The 672 ha Cuesta Blanca ranch was bought, with SilverCrest now owning two thirds of the surface rights on the Las Chispas property.
  • Levon Resources Ltd. filed a NI-43-101 technical report with a resource update and preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for the Cordero project in Chihuahua. The project envisages a 40 K tpd operation with a 29 year mine life on 417.5 M tonnes of mineralized material @ 46.5 g/t AgEq, to produce 231 M Oz Ag, 2,863 M Lb Zn, 1,992 M Lb Pb, 0.35 M Oz Au. The base case economic estimate is an after tax net present value of $438 M, using a 7.5% discount rate, and an after tax internal rate of return of 16.5%, with a payback period of 4.8 years.

ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES

  • Monarca Minerals Inc. presented a corporate update. At Tejamen, in Durango, 202 RC holes and 10 diamond holes have been re-logged to help in the design of a new drilling campaign. The company has involved the Federal, State and Municipal governments in its search of an agreement with the community regarding the surface rights. At San Jose, in Chihuahua, the LOI on the project was extended to July 2018. “Terms of the LOI call for payment of US$20,000 on execution of the LOI(paid), US$20,000 on execution of a definitive agreement, US$50,000 on the first anniversary of the definitive agreement and US$60,000 on the second anniversary of the definitive agreement. The owners retain a 2% NSR. One percent of the NSR can be purchased by Monarca for US$100,000. Back taxes on the property of US$390,000 will be paid over a period of time. Concession taxes per year are approximately US$46,000”.
  • Geologix Explorations Inc. announced its intention to change its name to ValOro Resources Inc., subject to approval by the TSX-V, as well a 10 to 1 consolidation on shares (Tepal, Michoacan).
  • Advance Gold Corp. announced the acquisition of the 2,365 ha Las Venaditas claim in Zacatecas, 11 km to the West of Advance’s Tabasqueña project, which is currently being drilled. “Upon receipt of regulatory approval, Advance will issue to Hot Spring Mining, a Mexican based corporation, 1,000,000 common shares which will be subject to a statutory four-month hold period, in exchange for which Hot Spring Mining will transfer a 100% interest in the Venaditas claims to Advance Mexico. Hot Spring Mining will retain a 2.5% NSR, of which Advance Mexico has the right to buy 1.5% at a rate of $500k CAD per 0.50%”. Advance will issue 800 K options to certain consultants and advisers.
  • Argonaut Gold Inc. reported that the court has postponed “the hearing pertaining to Argonaut’s explosive permit at its La Colorada mine (see press release dated April 12, 2018) to allow the Secretary of National Defense (“SEDENA”) to provide evidence requested by the court regarding the temporary suspension of the explosives permit at Argonaut’s La Colorada mine. It is expected that a ruling will be issued within 15 business days of the original hearing date (April 16, 2018), as required by law.” (La Colorada, Sonora).
  • Goldplay Exploration Ltd. entered into an option agreement with SSR Mining Inc. to acquire a 100% interest in the 1,250 ha San Marcial project in Sinaloa. San Marcial is a low sulfidation epithermal near surface high grade Ag, Zn Pb project with a NI-43-101 resource completed by Silvermex Resources Inc., with opportunity for resource expansion. The indicated resource holds 3.75 M tonnes @ 149 g/t Ag, 0.67% Zn, 0.36% Pb, hosting 18.0 M Oz Ag, 29.9 M Lb Zn, 55.3 M Lb Pb; and 3.07 M tonnes @ 44 g/t Ag, 0.51% Zn, 0.29% Pb holding 4.4 M Oz Ag, 19.5 M Lb Zn, 34.7 M Lb Pb as inferred resources. Goldplay has to pay SSR Mining an aggregate of $2.575 M in cash, issue an aggregate of 3.5 M common shares, incur in $3 M in exploration expenditures over a three year period and grant a NSR royalty (0.5% to 1.5%, based on a resource estimate). A NI-43-101 resource estimate has to be completed on or before the third anniversary of the agreement.
  • Vangold Mining Corp. granted an aggregate of 4.8 M stock options to directors, officers and consultants (Pinguico, Zacatecas).
  • Mexican Gold Corp. granted 174 K incentive stock options to directors and officers of the company.

ON MEXICO ISSUES, No relevant news. ON EXPLORATION, In Sonora, Riverside informed on exploration of its Ariel copper project. In Sinaloa, Goldplay completed a geophysical survey at El Habal. In Durango, Southern Silver announced its exploration program for 2018 at Cerro Las Minitas. ON MINING, Torex Gold announced all access to its projects in Guerrero has been restored.  ON FINANCING, Palamina granted options to officers, directors and consultants.  ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT, Alio Gold released drill results on two more holes on its Ana Paula project in Guerrero. ON EXPLORATION

  • Goldplay Exploration Ltd. completed a ground CSMAT (Controlled source audio frequency magnetotellurics) and magnetics survey at its El Habal property in Sinaloa, delineating 15 new drill targets. Goldplay completed a 27-line survey consisting of 100 m line spacing and 409 total stations over the 1.5 km of mineralized known length at El Habal. “Results confirm anomalous zones previously identified by historical drilling results and nearby shallow historical underground workings”. Several resistive geophysical anomalies were identified that correlate with anomalous surface trenching results and structural trends mapped previously.
  • Riverside Resources Inc. identified through mapping altered porphyritic intrusive rocks in the western part of its Ariel porphyry copper project in Sonora. The hydrothermal alteration measures 2.8 km in length by up to 1.9 km in width.
  • Southern Silver Exploration Corp. announced that a 2018 budget totaling US$3 M has been approved by the joint venture partners for exploration work at the Cerro Las Minitas project in Durango. “The program comprises 13,000 metres of drilling in two phases which will target both the systematic resource expansion in the Area of the Cerro containing the existing Mineral Resource Estimate and continued surface sampling and reverse circulation drilling on new discoveries in the recently staked CLM West claim group.”

ON MINING

  • Torex Gold Resources. Reported that negotiations between community leaders have resulted in an end to the illegal blockades of the El Limon-Guajes mine complex, supporting infrastructure and the Media Luna project in Guerrero. “The official government-regulated process for selecting between the two competing unions, continues. Since midMarch, there have been two public hearings at the Federal Labour Board, regarding the timing of a union selection vote. It is Torex’s understanding that the public hearing stage of the process is now complete, and that the next stage is a decision as to when and where the vote will occur. As Torex has said since the beginning, the Company will work with whichever union the workers democratically select.” Cash reserves at the end of Q1 were US$124 million, including US$14 million set aside for reclamation obligations. Also during Q1 a US$9.3 million principal repayment was made to reduce the term loan under the debt facility to US$290.7 million.

ON FINANCING

  • Palamina Corp. granted 950 K stock options to certain officers, directors and consultants of the company under its stock options plan. The options granted at $0.39 per common share expire in five years for officers and directors and in three years for consultants (Santuario, Hidalgo).

ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Alio Gold Inc. released drill results for the last two holes at its Ana Paula project in Guerrero. The 3,800 m program targets the complex breccia extension below the proposed open pit. On the first hole a hydrothermal breccia south of the proposed pit returned 0.94 g/t Au over 44.2 m, while the complex breccia below assayed 1.91 g/t Au over 40.90 m. The second hole returned 0.90 g/t Au over 32.4 m on the hydrothermal breccia south of the proposed pit and 2.03 g/t Au over 48.2 m on the complex breccia below. The fourth and fifth holes of the program have been completed and the last hole is in progress.
  • Telson Mining Corp. informed a positive result of a 43-101 compliant independent preliminary economic assessment (PEA) on its Campo Morado project in Guerrero. The current resource contains five mineral volcanogenic massive sulfide zones (G9, El Largo, Naranjo, Reforma and El Rey) containing zinc, copper, silver, gold and lead. The 2017 mineral resource estimate using a 5.5% ZnEq cut-off holds 16.6 M tonnes @ 1.70 g/t Au, 123 g/t Ag, 0.80% Cu, 0.93% Pb, 4.01% Zn (or 8.68% ZnEq) as measured and indicated resources, and 988 K tonnes @ 1.32 g/t Au, 116 g/t Ag, 0.64% Cu, 0.92% Pb, 3.20% Zn (or 7.27% ZnEq)as inferred resources.
  • Evrim Resources Corp. announced a maiden resource was disclosed by its partner First Majestic Silver Corp. on its Ermitaño project in Sonora. The inferred resource was calculated on the Ermitaño West vein, holding 3.36 M tonnes @ 3.99 g/t Au, 68 g/t Ag (or 377 g/t AgEq), containing 432 K Oz Au, 7.38 M Oz Ag.
  • Americas Silver Corp. released results of step-out holes on its Cosalá operations in Sinaloa. Highlighted true width (TW) intervals comprise 4.94 m @ 33 g/t Ag, 7.2 g/t Au, 0.13% Cu; 41.68 m @ 148 g/t Ag, 0.25 g/t Au, 0.32% Cu; 26.24 m @ 181 g/t Ag, 0.11 g/t Au, 0.51% Cu; 12.32 m @ 84 g/t Ag, 0.17 g/t Au, 0.23% Cu. “The zone 120 deposit is characterized by steeply dipping parallel lenses of Ag-Cu-Au skarn mineralization developed in volcanically derived calcareous sediments adjacent to intermediate intrusive dykes and sills. Skarn mineralization is characterized by disseminated chalcopyrite and tetrahedrite….. Mineralization at area 120 has been found over an area greater than 500 meters in length, 300 meters in width and down to a depth of 550 meters. Individual lenses have widths of up to 60 meters.”
  • Bacanora Lithium plc. Informed a recently completed feasibility study (FS) demonstrated economics of US$1.25 billion NPV; 26.1% IRR; and life of mine gross operating costs of US$3,910/t Li2CO3 comparable to those of the low cost brine producers of South America. Design of both the roaster/kiln FEED and the crystalliser/evaporation/IX FEED has commenced. “The current FEED schedule is to have designs, cost estimates and process guarantee scopes completed in Q2 2018 with orders for long lead items being placed at the end of the FEED process. The current ­time table is based on commissioning and lithium carbonate production commencing in Q1 2020” Currently advance is being made on water licenses, natural gas supplies and land surface access.

ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES

  • Evrim Resources Corp. announced “that First Majestic has initiated arbitration proceedings in connection with its purported exercise of the option pursuant to which First Majestic can earn a 100% interest in the Ermitaño property, subject to the retention by Evrim of a 2% net smelter return royalty interest. It is expected that the arbitration will deal with the requirements under the option agreement for First Majestic to exercise the option and not the relative interests of the parties in the Ermitaño property.” (Ermitaño, Sonora).
  • Bacanora Lithium plc. “As previously announced, the Company entered into a binding placing letter (the “Placing Letter”) with NextView New Energy Bull HongKong Limited (“NextView”) in December 2017 and as announced on 28 February 2018, although the Company had fulfilled all of its obligations in respect of the Placing as of that ­me, NextView failed to forward the Placing proceeds to the Company, leaving it in default under the terms of the Placing Letter. In spite of repeated efforts on the part of the Company requesting that NextView remedy its continuing default, NextView has continued to fail to complete the Placing as contemplated under the Placing Letter. Accordingly, the Company has terminated the Placing Letter and has reserved its rights to pursue any available legal remedies against NextView.”

was the operator of all three drill projects. At Pachuca, an 1,800m drill program tested 3 targets with deep, angled holes. Highlights on the Fourth Week of January, 2018. Mining and Exploration News in Mexico

During the 4th week of the year (January 22nd to January 28th, 2018), at least 20 press releases were announced by companies working in Mexico, with two reporting their Q4 and full year 2017 results. ON MEXICO ISSUES, no relevant news. ON EXPLORATION, In Sonora, Minaurum released drill results from its Alamos silver project, including one high-grade intercept over 8 m with grades as those mined in the past; Aztec Minerals is awaiting results from five drill holes at its Cervantes property; Silvercrest Metals presented an annual review on work done at its Las Chispas project. In Chihuahua, Sable Resources announced its intention to drill the Margarita project; Mammoth Resources released good gold results from its first two holes on the Tenoriba project. In Hidalgo,  Prospero Silver and Fortuna Silver are to drill the Pachuca SE project. ON MINING, Two companies, Excellon and Gold Resource presented Q4 and annual production results for 2017. Endeavour issued production and cost guidance for 2018. ON FINANCING, Torex Gold filed a short form base shelf prospectus with the Securities Commissions to make offerings of up to $500 M of shares, debt securities, subscription receipts and units. First Majestic announced the offering of US$150 M of unsecured convertible senior notes due 2023. ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT, Mexican Gold released drill results that increase mineralization extent on the dike zone at its Las Minas project in Veracruz. Kootenay Silver released drill results on La Cigarra project in Chihuahua, with favorable results on La Borracha zone. Santacruz Silver initiated drilling at Veta Grande in Zacatecas. Bacanora Minerals filed the FS on its Sonora Lithium project in Sonora. ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES, Leagold (Los Filos, Guerrero) intends to acquire Briogold, with operations In Brazil. Sonoro Metals optioned the Cerro Caliche project in Sonora. Orex Minerals optioned the San Luis del Cordero project in Durango, from Exploraciones del Altiplano.

  • Minaurum Gold Inc. released results from its on-going drill program at its Alamos silver project in Sonora. The first hole ever drilled in the Europa-Guadalupe vein system intersected 8.25 m (core length) @ 1,760 g/t Ag (57 opt), 1.6% Cu, 1.5% Pb, 2.6% Zn. Other results comprise 16.75 m @ 0.13% Cu; 0.5 m @ 0.92% Cu, 0.1% Pb, 0.18% Zn; 1.2 m @ 541 g/t Ag, 0.28% Cu, 0.44% Pb, 0.88% Zn; 3.05 m @ 0.19% Cu; 0.35 m @ 185 g/t Ag, 1.05% Cu, 2.37% Pb, 1.44% Zn; 9.60 m @ 88 g/t Ag, 0.24% Cu, 0.37% Pb, 0.33% Zn (including 2.65 m @ 147 g/t Ag, 0.25% Cu, 0.21% Pb, 0.28% Zn).
  • Sable Resources Ltd. announced its intention to conduct a two-phase drill program on the 1.7 km long structure at its Margarita project in Chihuahua. Twenty nine out of forty four surface samples collected returned over 100 g/t Ag, peaking at 909 g/t Ag, with high anomalies in gold, lead, zinc, arsenic and antimony. The 125 has property is surrounded by Sunshine’s Los Gatos project, same that hosts a 178 M AgEq Oz resource (which is under development). The initial drill program will consist of a two-phase, 11 diamond drill hole program totaling 4,025 m to test the vein structures at depths between 200 and 400 m. Considering the silica textures on the veins, the company believes they are at the upper levels of an epithermal system.
  • Aztec Minerals Corp. announced it expects to receive the assays for the first five holes drilled at the Cervantes Au-Cu porphyry property in Sonora. These five holes were drilled in December, and part of the 3,000 m, 14 to 17 holes, phase 1 drill program that is currently underway.
  • Mammoth Resources Corp. released results from the first two holes drilled by the company at its Tenoriba project in Chihuahua. The El Moreno area is 1.4 km west from previously drilled holes, with two drill holes completed of three planned. Results comprise (core length intervals) 30.0 m @ 0.77 g/t Au (including 5.9 m @ 3.41 g/t Au); 80.0 m @ 0.17 g/t Au (including (9.0 m @ 0.51 g/t Au; 15.5 m @ 0.35 g/t Au). The presence of a feldspar porphyry moderately to weakly silicified and argillitized, which is locally strongly silicified and bearing a strong pyrite (up to 15%) and tourmaline (up to 10%) content in one hole is regarded as an indication of a good high sulfidation system, as well as the identification of dickite, kaolinite and illite in the other hole.
  • Prospero Silver Corp. has begun drilling at its Pachuca SE project in Hidalgo. The drilling is to be conducted under the terms of a strategic investment with Fortuna Silver Mines Ltd. A three to four drill hole, 1,800 m program is planned to test two targets in the 7,250 has land package. Epithermal style argillic alteration is associated with anomalous Au-Ag-Zn geochemistry into an andesitic and felsic volcanic pile. The first hole is to test an actively mined clay pit on a structurally controlled illite alteration zone.
  • Silvercrest Metals Inc. presented a summary of 2017 exploration results at its Las Chispas property in Sonora. During 2017 the company drilled 32,822 m in 125 holes, bringing the total to 41,418 m in 157 holes. To date nine of nineteen epithermal veins have been drilled. The most remarkable is the Babicanora vein, with an estimated width of 3.0 to 3.5 m, a high grade footprint of over 1.0 km and a precious metal zone of 125 to 175 m high, with the vein remaining open along strike and to depth. The best hole in this vein intersected 3.1 m @ 40.4 g/t Au, 5,375 g/t Ag. Other veins with high grade intercepts include the Babicanora Footwall, La Blanquita, Las Chispas, Granaditas, Amethyst and Tajo Chico. Initial metallurgical test have indicated recoveries of 98.9% Au and 86.6% Ag. Securing land access has included the purchase of a 2,500 has. ranch and 20 year lease contracts. For 2018 the company is planning to release a maiden resource estimate on the first quarter, with ore from the Babicanora, Babicanora FW, Giovanni, Las Chispas and William Tell veins, and from the old dumps. Further drilling will continue to focus on the 3.2 km long Babicanora vein, extending to the SE and to depth; other areas of drilling will include the Amethyst, Babi Sur, La Victoria and Las Chispas vein extensions. During the first half of 2018 Silvercrest plans to drill an additional 10,000 to 15,000 m, focusing on a planned updated resource and completed PEA in the second half of the year.

ON MINING

  • Excellon Resources Inc. announced fourth quarter and annual 2017 production results from its Platosa mine in Durango. During the quarter 16,114 tonnes were mined and 17,978 tonnes were milled @ 424 g/t Ag, 3.81% Pb, 5.81% Zn, recovering 90.3% Ag, 80.0% Pb, 82.2% Zn to produce 223.3 K Oz Ag, 1.2 M Lb Pb, 1.9 M Lb Zn. During the year 57,165 tonnes were mined and 63,742 tonnes were milled @ 393 g/t Ag, 3.75% Pb, 5.3% Zn, recovering 89.3% Ag, 80.9% Pb, 81.4% Zn to produce 718.5 K Oz Ag, 4.24 M Lb Pb, 6.06 M Lb Zn. The company has removed a major bottleneck by improving dry-mine conditions and is now working to achieve a 300 tonnes per day (tpd) production rate. A second tailings management facility has been commissioned in Miguel Auza, Zacatecas, with 19 years of capacity at the planned 300 tpd rate.
  • Gold Resource Corp. released Q4 and annual 2017 results for its Oaxaca mining unit (El Aguila, Arista mines). During the fourth quarter 9,209 Oz Au and 555.5 K Oz Ag were produced, while on a yearly basis 28,117 Oz Au, 1.77 M Oz Ag, 1,141 tonnes Cu, 5,365 tonnes Pb, 16,301 tonnes Zn. The company expects to begin first stoping operations on the Switchback mine (500 m from the Arista mine) on the first quarter of 2018.
  • Endeavour Silver Corp. issued the 2018 production and cost guidance for its three mines in Mexico. Cash cost net of Au by-product credits are expected to be $6.00-$7.00 per Oz Ag, while consolidated cash costs on a co-product basis are anticipated to be $10.00 – $11.00 per Oz Ag and $750-$800 per Oz Au. All-in sustaining costs (AISC) net of gold by-product credits is estimated to be $15.00-$16.00 per Ag Oz. Endeavour plans to invest $48.4 M on capital projects, including $7.3 M in the construction of the El Compas mine in Zacatecas.   • Torex Gold Resources Inc. announced the filing of a final short form base shelf prospectus with the Securities Commissions (except Québec). The base shelf prospectus will allow Torex to make offerings of up to $500 M of shares, debt securities, subscription receipts and units. The company filed this base shelf prospectus to maintain financial flexibility but has no immediate intentions to undertake an offering.
  • First Majestic Silver Corp. announced the offering of US$150 M aggregate principal amount of unsecured convertible senior notes due 2023 pursuant to private placement exemptions. First Majestic “intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to fund certain costs and expenses associated with the recently announced acquisition of Primero Mining Corp. and ….. The notes will bear cash interest semi-annually at a rate of 1.875% per annum. The initial conversion rate for the Notes will be 104.3297 common shares (“shares”) per U$1,000 principal amount of Notes…”

ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Mexican Gold Corp. announced positive drill results extending the dike mineralized zone at its Las Minas property in Veracruz. Drilling to date has outlined mineralization (locally high-grade) along strike for 360 m on the west contact and for 140 m on the east contact, remaining open along strike. Significant core length results comprise 32.3 m @ 0.91 g/t Au, 0.85% Cu (including 4.3 m @ 3.55 g/t Au, 3.74% Cu); 10.0 m @ 0.60 g/t Au, 0.66% Cu (including 4.0 m @ 1.18 g/t Au, 1.3% Cu); 6.0 m @ 0.44 g/t Au, 0.71% Cu; 10.2 m @ 1.90 g/t Au, 1.61% Cu; 18.0 m @ 3.91 g/t Au, 2.36% Cu; 36.0 m @ 2.86 g/t Au, 1.16% Cu; 18.0 m @ 1.57 g/t Au, 0.32% Cu; 10.0 m @ 2.68 g/t Au, 0.79% Cu (including 4.0 m @ 5.87 g/t Au, 1.21% Cu); 10 m @ 0.83 g/t Au, 0.25% Cu; 4.0 m @ 3.48 g/t Au, 0.05% Cu.
  • Kootenay Silver Inc. released the results of the remaining nine core holes of the 2017 drill program at La Cigarra, in Chihuahua. Holes at La Navidad and Las Venadas intersected wide low grade intercepts, as 46 m @ 12 g/t Ag (including 16 m @ 20 g/t Ag); 73 m @ 14 g/t Ag (including 18.5 m @ 21 g/t Ag); 29 m @ 18 g/t Ag. At La Borracha higher grade intercept’s comprise 15 m @ 42 g/t Ag; 31 m @ 46 g/t Ag (including 8 m @ 107 g/t Ag). La Borracha zone has seen limited amounts of drilling is about 500 m from the current resource and can be traced for at least 1,100 m.
  • Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. reported that Carrizal Mining S.A. de C.V. has initiated a 6,000 m drilling campaign at the Veta Grande project in Zacatecas. The 15 hole campaign is to focus on the Veta Grande vein at depth below the current level being mined, expecting to intersect the parallel La Flor, San Jose and Armados veins.
  • Bacanora Minerals Ltd. filed on SEDAR the feasibility study (FS) for the Sonora lithium project in Sonora. The study confirms the positive economics of a 35,000 tonnes per annum battery grade Li2CO3 (lithium carbonate) operation, estimating a pre-tax net present value (NPV) of US$1.253 billion at an 8% discount rate and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 26.1%, and life of mine (LOM) of 19 years at operating costs of US$3,910/t of lithium carbonate, estimated on a flat US$11,000/t price over LOM. Measured resources amount to 103 Mt @ 3,480 ppm Li, indicated resources to 188 Mt @ 3,120 ppm Li and 268 Mt @ 2,650 ppm Li as indicated resources.
  • Great Panther Silver Ltd. updated its mineral resource estimate for the Guanajuato mine Complex in Guanajuato. The new estimate covers the operating San Ignacio and Guanajuato mines, comprising 1.21 M tonnes @ 156 g/t Ag, 2.74 g/t Au as measured and indicated resources hosting 6.16 M Oz Ag, 107,070 Oz Au; and 732.3 K tonnes @ 131 g/t Ag, 2.35 g/t Au as inferred resources hosting 3.09 M Oz Ag, 55,343 Oz Au.

ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES

  • Leagold Mining Corp. announced its intention to make an offer to acquire all shares of Brio Gold Inc. on or before February 28, 2018. “The all-stock offer results in Brio shareholders owning approximately 42% of the combined company. The combined operations are expected to produce approximately 450,000 ounces in 2018”. This combination reduces overall business risk for Leagold by having four operating mines in Mexico and Brazil (Los Filos-Bermejal, Guerrero).
  • Sonoro Metals Corp. entered into an option agreement with a resident of Hermosillo to acquire 100% interest in the Cerro Caliche group of properties in Sonora. Cerro Caliche consists of ten concessions over 900 has, and has 10,118 m in 101 holes of previous drilling by Cambior Gold Corp. and Corex Gold Corp. Total consideration for the property is US$2.98 M payable in escalating cash installments over 72 months, with the initial first year installment of US$127 K having been completed. In addition Sonoro has paid US$23 K of outstanding mining duties. The vendor is to retain a 2% NSR, with Sonoro having an option to purchase the NSR at any time for US$1 M for each percent point.
  • Orex Minerals Inc. entered into an option agreement with Exploraciones del Altiplano S.A. de C.V. to acquire a 100% interest in the San Luis del Cordero project in Durango. Orex is required to make the following annual cash and share payments to Altiplano. On signing, issue 100 K Orex shares and pay US$100 K; on the first anniversary, issue 200 K shares and pay US$150 K; on the second anniversary, issue 300 K shares and pay US$200 K; on the third anniversary, issue 400 K shares and pay US$550 K; on the fourth anniversary, pay $US1.5 M (of which 30% can be issued in Orex shares). Orex also will have to satisfy work commitments of US$400 K and US$600 K in years 1 and 2. The property extends over 2,825 has, where old mine workings and mineralized showings wrap around a quartz-feldspar porphyry intrusive. Approximately 16,400 m were drilled in 62 holes from year 2000 to year 2016.
