Three companies published results from drilling campaigns in Mexico during the week.
Luca Mining released results from its ongoing Phase 2 exploration drilling campaign at Campo Morado, in Guerrero. “Drilling targeted the central and eastern portions of the El Rey deposit to confirm grade continuity, improve geological definition, and test expansion potential beyond historical interpretations … To date, approximately 8,200 m of surface drilling and 8,700 m of underground drilling have been completed. Underground drilling continues to target the Largo, Largo Norte, Naranjo and Fish deposits, all of which form part of the 2026–2028 mine plans”. The volcanogenic massive sulfides (VMS) property is a true polymetallic deposit, with intercepts of up to 24.9 m averaging 2.00 gpt Au, 79 gpt Ag, 0.61% Cu, 0.6% Pb, 2.4% Zn.
Avino Silver & Gold Mines reported results of six drill holes from La Preciosa. One hole was twinned with previous drilling and the rest as part of an infill drill program. “Mineralization at La Preciosa is hosted within multiple discrete poly-phase quartz veins, often displaying banded, smoky, drusy, and chalcedonic textures. Also, in each stage, there is variably crustiform banded fracture fill/breccia cement mineralogy. Fluorite, amethyst, a substantial number of barite laths, calcite, and rhodochrosite may also be present, and sulphide mineralization in the form of sphalerite, galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, acanthite, sparse native silver, and free gold, as well as iron and manganese oxides”. La Preciosa mineralization belongs to the intermediate sulfidation epithermal category.
Results from four drill holes on the recently acquired Puro Corazon mining concession at its Cerro Las Minitas property in Durango were released by Southern Silver Exploration. Drilling tested down dip and to the south of earlier reported drill holes. The company intends to incorporate the results from the Puro Corazon claim into an updated mineral resource estimate in the project and update the preliminary economic assessment (PEA). Skarn and carbonate replacement deposits (CRD) mineralization are present at the project.
