Two companies released drilling results from projects in Mexico during the week. Mithril Gold and Silver’s results from its Copalquin project in Durango include a striking 2.0 m intercept grading 495 gpt Au, 3765 gpt Ag in a drill hole designed to test mineralization along strike from the El Cometa historic mine. ” …. drilling in the Cometa area is to establish the vertical and horizontal continuity with Refugio
and define high-grade zone previously drilled and test if the high-grade is associated to this high angle faulting”. The Copalquin project area is a clear example of low sulfidation epithermal mineralization, with quartz vein locally displaying ginguro textures, free gold and bonanza gold-silver grades.
Minaurum Gold’s results are from its Alamos silver project in Sonora, where the company is intending to build a maiden resource estimate. This last release comprises the highlighted intercepts from 1,286 m of drilling in five holes at the Promontorio and Promontorio Sur vein zones. “The 1 km-long Promontorio vein zone consists of multiple veins including the Veta Grande, Veta del 100, and Veta Las Guijas veins …… The individual veins are hosted in faulted volcanics, altered limestone, and intrusive rocks. The current drill program is trying to establish 75 to 100 m spacing between vein intersections, and step-out drilling. Mineralization at Alamos seems to be of intermediate sulfidation epithermal affinity, and by the copper grades and local skarn development alteration, could be linked to the outer parts of a porphyry copper system.
