Two companies released drilling results from properties in Mexico during the week. Aztec Minerals presented results from reverse circulation (RC) drilling on the California zone of the Cervantes project in Sonora. At the California zone, gold mineralization is present as disseminations, fractures and stockwork veinlets at high levels of the quartz-feldspar porphyry and related hydrothermal breccias which intrude into Paleozoic sedimentary rocks. Gold mineralization has now been confirmed for 1,000 m in E-W direction; furthermore, the quartiztes in the metasediment package have shown that can be mineralized.
Silver Storm’s drill intercepts at La Parrilla, in Durango, confirm the presence of high-grade Ag-Pb-Zn material near workings, and to a depth of 370 m. Mineralization at the project is in carbonate replacement ore bodies and veins hosted in Early Cretaceous limestone and shale intruded by an Eocene quartz monzonite-granodiorite stock, which metamorphosed the Cretaceous rocks into marble, hornfels, skarnoid and minor skarn.
