Mexico’s Best Copper Drilling Intercepts on 2023

Judging by the scarcity of published copper intercepts in Mexico in 2023, one could incorrectly conclude that the country has not the pedigree needed to explore for the red metal. Probably the reason lies more into the scarcity of funding for junior companies in a business environment where the majors do not have an incentive for publishing their exploration results.

The drilling intercepts from Oroco Resource at its Santo Tomás project in Sinaloa are the only ones to come from a porphyry copper definition play, while those from Regency Silver’s Dios Padre project in Sonora are from breccias associated to a porphyry copper environment. The results from the Bolivar skarn system are also probably associated to such a setting (the Bahuerachi porphyry copper is only a few kilometers away). The highest results this year are from a skarn…. Torex’s Media Luna gold skarn system in the Guerrero gold belt, that happens to be particularly enriched in copper. Several other deposits within Torex’s ground in Guerrero are also included in the table, as well as those from Pan American Silver’s La Colorada Skarn in Zacatecas. Intermediate sulfidation systems reporting interesting copper intercepts include Avino in Durango, El Tigre in Sonora, Cerro Los Gatos in Chihuahua and Don David in Oaxaca.
