Many companies reported gold values from drilling projects in Mexico during the fourth quarter, but the top five intercepts with over 250 gpt*m stem from the Guerrero Gold Belt, where Heliostar Metals is defining a high grade portion of the Ana Paula deposit and Torex Gold is delineating resources and exploring satellite deposits to the large Media Luna deposit. In the Guerrero Gold Belt skarn mineralization develops along contacts of the intrusive rocks and carbonate-rich sedimentary rocks, as is the case on El Limón-Guajes, Media Luna and satellite deposits, but at Ana Paula the bulk of the high grade mineralization is related to a complex breccia “characterized by veins, fracture zones, and massive sulphide contact replacements”, according to Heliostar.

Cheaspeake Gold obtained very good results for a maiden drill program on a skarn, Lucy, located in Sinaloa. The skarn is at least 500 m long, with”quartz-calcite, iron oxides and sulphides veinlets stockwork hosted within garnet skarn and hornfels”.

The rest of the deposits of the table are characterized by low and intermediate sulfidation epithermal sulfidation mineralization, with the exception of La Parrilla, in Durango, which is also a skarn, and Evelyn and Los Pavitos in Sonora, that are classified as of orogenic gold style.
