On a week a little bit more busy than usual, four companies released results from drilling campaigns in Mexico. The more striking intercepts were disclosed by Heliostar Metals with results from a drilling campaign focused on expanding the High Grade Panel at its Ana Paula project in Guerrero. The drilling also tested step-out targets at depth beneath this zone, and building confidence on the boundaries of the High Grade Panel. The Ana Paula ore deposit is complex, with mineralization related to the intrusion of igneous bodies in sedimentary rocks, with sulfide rich areas of brecciation, minor skarn development and local late epithermal quartz veining.
Luca Mining presented results of the first four holes on a 5,000 m diamond drilling program at its Tahuehueto mine in Durango; the first exploration drilling in over a decade at the project. The drilling campaign has the objective “to determine both vertical and lateral extents of known mineralization within the Creston and Perdido vein systems that are: a) proximal to current mine workings and b) interpreted to host un-tested extensions of the mineralized structures. The Tahuehueto project displays intermediate sufidation epithermal mineralization in several structures. Endeavour Silver presented drilling results from its exploration program at the Bolañitos mine in Guanajuato, specifically from La Luz vein. “To date, eight drill holes totaling 2,000 metres has outlined high-grade mineralization over 100 metres in length to a depth of 200 metres. The area remains open to the south and to depth”. Mineralization in the Guanajuato District is clearly of low sulfidation epithermal character.
Silver Wolf Exploration reported anomalous carbonate replacement mineralization (CRD) intersected by drilling at its Ana Maria project in Durango. The drilling intersected “extensive CRD-type hydrothermal mineralization and dolomitization” underlying historical Ag-Pb-Zn workings and “Identified several significant subvertical chimney breccias and flat-laying mantos with anomalous intercepts of Ag-Pb-Zn”. The property is in the area of the significant past-producing Ojuela mine (great site to collect mineral specimens, by the way).
