Not only five companies released results from drilling on six Mexican properties during the week, but most of these results were poly-metallic, which is a common feature of mineral deposits in Mexico. With 73 highlighted intervals, the table below is the longest in the year.
Pan American Silver presented results from infilling drilling at La Colorada Skarn in Zacatecas, and expansion/exploration drilling at the nearby La Colorada, where 13 new veins have been discovered in the eastern portion of the property, expanding the high-grade zone of the mine. Orla Mining updated on the exploration at the Camino Rojo Extension, now Zone 22 (part of the Camino Rojo project in Zacatecas), extending mineralization 800 m beyond the current open-pit resource and remaining open at depth and along strike. Fuerte Metals reported results from drilling the Los Ingleses and Mexico Libre vein systems at its Cristina project in Chihuahua, and are widely spaced expansion holes. Prime Mining’s released drill intervals at the Guadalupe East, in the south-east of the Guadalupe trend, at its Los Reyes project in Sinaloa. Silver Storm presented results from the Rosarios and Footwall zones, within the Rosarios mine at its La Parrilla Mine Complex in Durango, intercepting several mineralized zones underneath and in proximity to previously mined stopes.
As for mineral deposit styles, La Colorada Skarn name speaks for itself, while the nearby La Colorada displays intermediate sulfidation veins that are probably mesothermal, epithermal or straddling the boundaries between these temperature definitions and genetically associated to the nearby skarn mineralization. At Camino Rojo, intermediate sulfidation mineralization is underlain by skarn mineralization, and the latest drilling identified 900 m down-plunge a quartz-feldspar porphyry dike hosting chalcopyrite veins (it would really be interesting to know the associated alteration) that returned up to 4.95% Cu. Mineralization at Cristina is of intermediate sulfidation epithermal nature, associated to a porphyry copper system. Finally, at La Parrilla mineralization is mainly carbonate replacement (CRD) with minor skarn evidences associated to the intrusion of a stock into a sedimentary sequence.
