Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Fourth Week of July 2024

Two companies released results during the week from their drilling programs of properties in Mexico. Gatos Silver’s highlighted intervals are from the Cerro Los Gatos mine in Chihuahua and from brownfield exploration in its vicinity. At the mine the company is exploring the SE Deeps zone adjacent to the current mineral resource, with 66,300 m of drilling been completed since April of last year in this zone, which is one kilometer long by 400 vertically. This drilling data is being used to estimate the new resource estimate planned for Q3 2024, although with some variability included, the mineralization in this zone averages lesser silver and higher copper than what is currently being mined. The brown fields exploration results are from the Portigueño zone, 2 km SE from Cerro Los Gatos, and the San Luis zone, 4.5 km NW from the mine. Both areas returned promising results in what seems to be a district with low to intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization.

In Sonora, Tocvan Ventures released results from its reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at Pilar, near Suaqui Grande. The 2024 drill program has completed 3,268 m in 26 drill holes, and 3,700 m of core and RC drilling are planned to be completed in 2024 on this 22 square Km property. Drilling so far has tested half of the 1.2 km trend at the Main, North Hill and 4-T zones. Although Tocvan describes the property as of low sulfidation epithermal mineralization, the geochemistry and location near porphyry copper projects suggest an intermediate sulfidation system related to a porphyry copper environment as another possibility.
