Fifteen companies released interesting silver drilling results from projects in Mexico during the quarter, giving a glimpse on why the country is the world’s top silver producer. Most of the projects in the list, twelve out of fifteen, present strongly structurally controlled low to intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization. But the exceptions are noteworthy not only by being of skarn/carbonate replacement mineralization style, but mainly because the top silver intercepts by a long margin (three times a much as the second in the list) are from La Colorada Skarn project in Zacatecas.
La Colorada Skarn, San Dimas, La Colorada, San José, Zacualpan, La Parrilla, Cerro Los Gatos and Cerro Los Gatos Exploration, El Limón Guajes and Camino Rojo Sulphide Extension are either mine site confirmation or extension drilling, or brown field plays. Panuco, El Tigre, Cristina and Los Reyes are advanced projects with defined resources, while at Columba Kootenay Silver is defining a resource. The actual government policies are not leaving much room for exploration on new projects.
