Two companies published results from drilling campaigns in Mexico during the week.
First Majestic Silver released exploration drilling results from the Santo Niño, Navidad and Luna deposits within its Santa Elena property in Sonora. The results increase the Au-Ag mineralization beyond the current inferred resources at Navidad and Santo Niño zones, while drilling in the Luna zone will support the conversion to indicated resources. The Luna and Navidad discoveries are located at the east and west ends of the Ermitaño ore body, although in distinct settings, while Santo Niño is a few kilometers away. At Santo Niño, “The epithermal vein deposits consist of grey to pink, banded and/or bladed quartz and quartz vein stockwork that locally contain visible silver sulphides… extends 1,100 m by 400 m along strike and dip and the mineralization averages 4.0 m in thickness ranging from 0.8 m to 16.0 m…”. At Navidad, “Step-out holes have now traced the combined structure for 1.2 km along strike and 400 m down-dip. The drilling of 11,190 m in 33 holes at the Luna zone has established the truncation of the Ermitaño vein by the Aitana vein. Mineralization at the Santa Elena property is of low sulfidation epithermal characteristics.
Pacifica Silver reported assay results from the first 10 of 29 drill holes completed by three drill rigs at its 11,876 ha Claudia project in Durango. There are over 30 km of veins in the property, with mineralization including “multiple stages of banded fine and medium-grained quartz and calcite with clasts of hydrothermally brecciated vein and rock fragments surrounded by later stages of banded quartz and calcite”, a clear low sulfidation epithermal style of mineralization. Drilling was concentrated on the Aguilareña-Tres Reyes vein, Central and Justina veins and the Guadalupe vein.
