Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Second Week of May 2025

After a one-week lull with no releases from drilling programs in Mexico, four companies presented their results on the second week of May. The four systems display epithermal mineralization. Tocvan Ventures presented results from three reverse circulation holes at its Gran Pilar project in Sonora. Results are pending for seven more holes in the area that also show intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization, probably distal to a porphyry copper system.

Fuerte Metals released results from a similar project in Chihuahua, Cristina, where the epithermal mineralization present also seems to be related to a porphyry copper system. The company released results from five holes drilled at Los Ingleses vein. “With fifty holes now completed in the current program, our focus has shifted to incorporating the data collected into an improved and expanded geologic model in preparation for the mineral resource update planned for later this year”.

Kootenay Silver presented results from 21 holes part of the definition drill program aimed to establish a maiden resource at its Columba project, in Chihuahua. The drill program commenced in 2024, and surpassed the proposed 20,000 m. “Data for use in modelling work is cut off at this time … Drilling completed in the last 12 months forms the second phase of a larger, staged program planned to total 50,000 meters”. Mineralization at Columba is of intermediate sulfidation epithermal character.

Guanajuato Silver released results from its El Cubo mine, in Guanajuato, with 972 m of underground drilling to confirm lateral and vertical continuity of the San Luis orebody, which intersected several vein splays with good grades. “The San Luis vein was discovered by Guanajuato Silver in 2022; now, after several drilling campaigns and mine developments, San Luis represents one of the most productive areas at El Cubo. The San Luis vein has an average width of 1.0 to 1.2 meters comprising consistent silver and gold grades that average 116 g/t silver and 1.05 g/t gold for an average silver-equivalent grade of 210 g/t AgEq”. The Guanajuato district is one of the clearest examples of low sulfidation epithermal mineralization in Mexico.
