Three companies released results during the week from drilling programs on their properties. First Majestic presented results from its comprehensive 2024 exploration program at its San Dimas (Tayoltita) project in Durango. The program was focused in resource conversion and extension to resources on El Oro, Perez, Sinaloa, Santa Teresa, Rosario, Intermedia, Santa Regina, Santa Jessica and Nochebuena veins. San Dimas is one of the largest low sulfidation epithermal systems in the Sierra Madre Occidental, having produced several millions of ounces of gold and many millions of ounces of silver. Also in Durango and within the Sierra Madre, drilling results from the Copalquin project were presented by Mithril Silver and Gold. The results from the late 2024 program are from shallow mineralization of Target 1 resource area, at El Cometa, while two more holes were completed during January at La Soledad. This property also displays low sulfidation epithermal mineralization.
To round up a triad of projects in the Sierra Madre, Sierra Metals announced results from drilling the Marian zone at the Bolivar mine in Chihuahua. The Marian ore body is interpreted to represent a feeder zone within the system, cutting carbonate rocks with calc-silicate metasomatism. Unlike the previous properties, mineralization at Bolivar is on a skarn that is probably distal to a porphyry copper system.
