Mexico’s Best Gold Drilling Intercepts, Third Quarter 2024

More than a dozen companies released gold drilling results from properties in Mexico during the third quarter of 2024. The highest gold intercept from the period, and so far from the start of the year, is from Mithril Gold and Silver’s Copalquin project in Durango.

Good gold grades reported from Mexico more often than not come from epithermal deposits, of either low, intermediate or high sulfidation character. On the list below, Copalquin, Panuco, Navidad (Santa Elena), El Tigre, Los Reyes, Cerro Los Gatos and Cerro Los Gatos Exploration present characteristics of either low or intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization, and Mulatos of a clear high sulfidation epithermal system. In the case of the Pilar, Cristina and Alamos, those projects display epithermal characteristics, but the copper grades and the proximity to porphyry copper centers could indicate a common origin as porprhyry copper related intermediate sulfidation epithermal systems.

Of the fourteen projects in the list, three are not epithermal systems (at least solely): La Gloria is part of an orogenic gold system, Lucy presents skarn mineralization and La Parrilla is described as a carbonate replacement deposit (CRD) with local skarn and intermediate sulfidation mineralization.
