Mexico’s Best Gold Drilling Intercepts, First Quarter 2024

Several companies presented good gold results from drilling projects in Mexico during the first quarter of 2024. Torex Gold topped the chart with results from three different deposits within its Limón-Guajes mine in Guerrero grading over 100 gpt*m, and the highest grade interval of 37 meters at almost half an ounce per tonne gold and 521 gpt*m. Orla Mining was not very far behind in second place, with lower grades but longer intervals, with 127 m running 3.21 gpt Au, for 408 gpt *m. El Limón-Guajes is a gold skarn deposit in the Guerrero Gold Belt, while Orla’s Camino rojo Sulphides project is a complex intrusion-skarn-reemplacement deposit also on land of giants, a few tens of kilometers from the Peñasquito mine in Zacatecas.

The next three deposits on the list are low sulfidation epithermal systems, displaying gpt*m gold values from the mid-thirties to over 300. Those projects are Los Reyes in Sinaloa, Santa Elena /Ermitaño in Sonora and San Dimas in Durango.

The Cervantes project made it to the list with 20 to 32 gpt*m gold, in a porphyry copper system with high gold numbers. Panuco in Sinaloa, San Acacio in Zacatecas and Cerro Los Gatos in Chihuahua are epithermal systems that can be defined as of intermediate sulfidation, with gpt*m gold values ranging from 7 to 27.

Finally, La Parrila in Durango is part of a skarn/remplacement system and La Adelita a skarn system possibly associated to a porphyry copper.
