Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Third Quarter 2026
Companies working in Mexico released results from drilling campaigns in twenty properties during the third quarter of 2026. The higher gold intercepts were from deposits within Torex Gold’s Morelos complex in Guerrero, with the highest returning over 36 m grading almost 12 gpt Au. These deposits are part of the Guerrero Gold Belt, presenting Au-Cu-Ag skarn and replacement mineralization. But skarns are not commonly the best example of gold deposits in Mexico, with the obvious exception of these in the Guerrero Gold Belt. The only two other skarns in this table are way down: Adelita, probably linked to a porphyry copper system, and La Parrilla, a complex deposit displaying also carbonate replacement (CRD) and intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization styles. The second top results come from Luca Mining’s Campo Morado, also in Guerrero, which is also the only volcanogenic massive sulfides (VMS) deposit on the list.
Epithermal systems represent 70 percent of the entries in the table below. The highest ranking is third on the list, Coeur Mining’s Palmarejo mine in Chihuahua, same that presents low sulfidation epithermal characteristics. Other low sulfidation epithermal deposits comprise Potrero, San Dimas, Cerro Caliche, Las Chispas, Copalquín and La Virgina. But Intermediate sulfidation epithermal deposits are the most numerous with 13 assigned to that category, including: Gran Pilar (likely associated to a porphyry system), El Tigre, Tahuehueto, Gavilanes, Don David, Cusi, Copalito, Cruz de Plata, San Acacio, Alamos Silver, San Marcial, Las Coloradas and Columba.
Deposits that display carbonate replacement mineralization (CRD) include Cosalá (which also have intermediate sulfidation epithermal mineralization), and La Unión, in Sonora, as well as the previously mentioned La Parrilla.
Santo Tomás is a porphyry copper system and San Antonio and San Javier are part of an iron oxide copper gold (ICOG) mineralization system in the same district.
Summarizing, twenty one of the thirty properties on the list are epithermal systems, three present some type of skarn mineralization, two more have characteristics of carbonate replacement deposits (CRD) another one has characteristics of a volcanogenic massive sulfides (VMS) deposit, one more is clearly a porphyry copper system and two more are part of an IOCG system. The gold intercepts are clustered in the north and northwest part of the country, with 26 reported in Sonora, Durango, Chihuahua and Sinaloa.

During the 40th week of the year (September 28th to October 4th, 2026), 16 companies working in Mexico released press releases. Four companies reported on activities at early-stage projects. Two companies reported on quarterly results and one announced an expansion plant update. One company changed trading symbol, and one more closed a financing round. One company reported on metallurgical results and one more on an advanced property drilling results. Four companies reported on deals and corporate issues. ON MEXICO ISSUES, no relevant news. ON EXPLORATION, in Sonora, Tocvan presented drilling results from Gran Pilar, Algo Grande Copper secured a surface agreement for Adelita and Masivo Silver reported on drilling at Cerro Colorado. In Chihuahua, Centenario Gold begins drilling at Los Reyes. ON MINING, Sierra Madre Gold and Silver updated on the plant expansion at La Guitarra, in Estado de México. Agnico Eagle and Alamos Gold informed on Q3 Results. ON FINANCING. Platauro Metals announced a new OTCQB symbol. Pinnacle Gold and Silver closed a financing round for C$1.65 M. ON RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT, Tocvan Ventures reported on metallurgical results at Gran Pilar, in Sonora. Sonoro Gold presented results from drilling at Cerro Caliche, in Sonora. ON DEALS AND CORPORATE ISSUES, Goldgroup Mining announced a US$75 M strategic investment in Luca Mining, to support the acquisition of Cozamin, in Zacatecas. Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Fourth Week of September 2026
Six companies released results from drilling projects in Mexico during the week.
Torex Gold Resources reported results from drilling at its Morelos property in Guerrero, which encompasses the Limón-Guajes and Media Luna mines, as well as the Media Luna North, Media Luna West, Media Luna East, EPO and ELG Underground deposits, and the San Miguel Corridor target. Impressive gold, silver and copper grades in long intervals from the San Miguel Corridor, Media Luna mine, Media Luna North, Media Luna East and from ELG Underground were announced. Southern Silver Exploration reported assays from five definition holes on the Puro Corazón target at its Cerro Las Minitas property in Durango. “These initial results are from the ongoing 14,000 metre core hole drill program that was started in June ’26 and is designed to upgrade resource classification in the Puro Corazon target. The current drill program will test an area that is roughly a 200 metres strike-length by 300 metres down dip within the Puro Corazon claim.” Mineralization present at Cerro Las Minitas is of carbonate replacement deposits (CRD) and skarn deposit styles.
Kootenay Silver announced assays results from expansion drilling along the Lupe vein at its Columba project in Chihuahua. The company has completed more than 30,000 m of drilling on its 60,000 m program, with 51 holes reported to date. “Drilling has outlined the Lupe Vein system over approximately 520 meters of strike and 450 meters of vertical extent, and it remains open for expansion”. Columba presents mineralization of intermediate sulfidation epithermal affinity.
Algo Grande Copper reported the remaining results from one drill hole at its Adelita project in Sonora. The results confirmed the presence of two mineralized intervals. Adelita presents skarn mineralization deemed distal to a porphyry copper system.
Kingsmen Resources reported results from one more drill hole at its Las Coloradas project in Chihuahua. On the #8 structure, “… the mineralization appears as a multidirectional stockwork of massive sulfides within pervasive phyllic alteration. The massive sulfides are accompanied by massive calcite, massive white quartz, and translucent quartz.” Las Coloradas is a good example of intermediate sulfidation epithermal veins.
Minaurum Silver informed on drill results from the Europa, Quintera, San José and Promontorio Sur vein zones, at its Alamos silver project in Sonora. These results are part of the ongoing phase II, 50,000 m resource expansion drilling program. Mineralization at Alamos Silver presents characteristics of intermediate sulfidation epithermal systems.
